Sustainable Development Strategy and Leadership

We have worked with the Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) and London regional colleagues over a number of years, providing  leadership and contribution to strategic initiatives across health and social care.

At a national level, this has included providing specialist advice and support in scoping the social care contribution to the new national strategy, spanning the consultation process, leadership engagement, strategy development and a sector carbon footprint.  In London, Catherine worked with the regional public health team, the strategic health authority and London Councils to ensure that the health and social care system will be socially and environmentally as well as financially sustainable.

Catherine was asked by NHS England and Public Health England to help take forward her recommendations and establish a leadership network for London to build on the successes of the former Carbon Reduction Strategy Group, which Catherine chaired, and the groundbreaking action by local Trusts which saw London become the first NHS region to reduce its carbon footprint.
